Dianne and her Beagle Timber – also heading to the AKC/Eukanuba Agility Invitational

13 Oct

How long you and Timber have been competing? We started in Novice at 15 months in September 2008—we Q’d his first time out in both classes!

Favorite moment at an agility trial? Probably when he got his first MACH because our instructor had made a special trip to come watch.  That victory lap was everything I had hoped it would be

What you are doing to prepare for the invitational? Trialing less, but at least once a month to keep in practice. I’m focusing more on cross-training.  We were swimming (and dock diving) until the weather got too cool for that.  Now
we’re jogging a couple of times a week and attending our agility classes.

Advice for anyone hoping to qualify for the invitational?  Gosh, I don’t know.  We had to trial a lot to qualify in the Beagles.  I know it’s even more competitive in other breeds.  I guess I’d say you have to be willing to dedicate
yourself to that goal.  We went to a LOT of agility trials during the last 2 years to qualify for both the 2010 and 2011.  It got hard to be on the road so many weekends, but the end result was very worth it.

What you are looking forward to most about attending?  Competing with the other top Beagles in the country and watching all the superb teams that will be there.I love being in the ring with Timber.  He’s always so much fun to
run no matter where we are!
