AKC CAT Test (Coursing Ability Test)

24 Jan

Wyatt with his ribbons from his qualifying runs

Yesterday Wyatt and I attended a Lure Coursing Ability test in Calhoun, GA. The AKC had recently opened up Lure Coursing to all breeds – which was great news for us.  The event is a pass/fail. To pass, the dogs have to show interest and chase the Lure for the length of the course, which is 600 yds. Chasing is Wyatt’s favorite thing ever, so this was a piece of cake. He ran twice, earning 2 qualifying runs. One more run and he will have his CAT title (CA)

Here is a list from the AKC website of upcoming CAT tests in 2012

http://www.gangcoursing.org/ is also a good resource to hear about upcoming CAT tests in Georgia

Two turns at 600 yds each full blast = one tired dog last night. Here is a video of one of his runs.
